A Pera da Serra
feel at home in a different kind of rural tourism
in the quiet of the Serra da Lousã
At the southwest end of Portugal's central mountain range lies the village of Vale Pereira da Serra, part of the schist and pre-Cambrian Serra da Lousã. This village uniquely combines the cultural and human aspects of the Schist Villages with nature and the leisure possibilities that its landscape offers. It is home to deer, wild boar and roe deer that lurk among the cork oaks, chestnut trees, oaks, pines and, of course, pear trees.
The village of Vale Pereira da Serra is an old schist village, "lost" in the mountains, where Pera da Serra is located, a property of around 3,640m,
in a remote area.
This property is the result of several plots of land inherited over four generations from the same family.
"- Adelino... potatoes, potatoes, potatoes! - His neighbor - a retired Englishman whose yard was full of flowers - would constantly tease him.
- Look, in winter you eat the flowers and I'll eat the potatoes! - Grandpa Adelino would reply."
This guerrilla war, which the owner witnessed over and over again between his grandfather and his neighbor, who didn't speak Portuguese, is an anecdote from his childhood, which reinforces the subsistence farming character that the property has always had while it was inhabited, and whose spirit he wants to maintain and pay homage to.
The area where it is located has belonged to the promoter's family for several generations. His paternal grandmother and later his father were born in the first house at the entrance to the property.
Pera da Serra has five lodgings which, due to their design and other exterior features, are part of the typical local architecture combined with modern architecture. All the houses have floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the natural landscape. This property has an outdoor swimming pool, barbecue and garden facilities, a sun terrace with views of the horizon and fully-equipped kitchens in all the houses.
